I find it hard to believe it could really be any other way at this point. He has to beat the traitor, but doing so brings humanity closer to destruction. Traitor vs Traitor, and Buddha finds himself backed into a corner by the gods (possibly a Loki plan, after all if anyone would come up with a scheme like this it'd be him). I have been thinking "If Buddha is on our side, how can they get him to compete? Wouldn't he just throw the match to humanity by not showing up at all?" Well my basic idea is that humans will ALSO have a traitor on their roster, someone who does something to piss Buddha off just enough to convince him to show up to his round. If the gods have a traitor on the roster, it is wholly possible the humans do too. Rasputin was loyal to his own goals after all, and got in bed with the royal family through deceit to secure power for himself. Just as Buddha was never really on the gods side, I think we might have a human fighter who doesn't side with the Valkyrie, perhaps Rasputin. 13 gods will fight against 13 human champions in one-on-one battles to decide whether humanity lives or dies. But a lone valkyrie puts forward a suggestion to let the gods and humanity fight one last battle, as a last hope for humanity's continued survival. The story begins when the gods call a convention to decide whether to let humanity live or die, and settle on destroying humanity.
